Finding us: Unit 1 is the unit on the right side of the building as you face it from Carolina Beach Ave S.

WiFi

High-speed internet runs throughout the home, including the rooftop deck.

  • Network: Driftwood Carolina
  • Password: CarolinaBeach

If the connection ever drops or slows down, text or call us at (850) 491-4176 and we'll take a look right away — we can check and reset the network remotely, so there's no need to touch any equipment.

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-in: after 3:00 PM
  • Check-out: before 11:00 AM

Checking out is easy — just a few things:

  • Load the dishwasher and start a cycle
  • Bag up your trash and drop it in the outside bins
  • Do a last look around for your personal items — phone chargers and rooftop sunglasses love to stay behind

That's it — we'll take care of the rest. Just press the lock button on the keypad on your way out, and safe travels!

Hoping for an early check-in or late check-out? Just ask — we're flexible whenever the cleaning schedule allows.

Getting In & Parking

Entry. There are two ways into the home: through the main door next to the garage, or by the private elevator inside the garage on the first level (enter through the main door, then into the garage). Your 4-digit smart lock code arrives by message the day before check-in. To unlock: touch the screen, press the highlighted digits to activate it, then enter your code.

Garage. There's no keycode for the garage — open and close the garage door using the switch on the interior wall of the garage.

Parking. Space for up to four cars on the property: two in the garage and two in the driveway. Need more? Town lots are available on the street behind the home. Street parking near the beach is paid/permit and actively enforced March through October.

EV owners. Two Level 2 Tesla chargers are in the garage — one fitted with a universal connector for non-Tesla vehicles. Both are available for your use, anytime, at no extra charge.

The Elevator

The private elevator serves the home from the garage up to the fourth floor. (The rooftop deck is reached by a short flight of outdoor stairs from the fourth floor.) It's simple to use, but the steps must be done in order — skipping a step will stop the elevator from operating.

Getting in:

  1. Press the Call button — it turns blue, then yellow when the elevator is ready.
  2. Open the outside door, then the accordion door, and step in.
  3. Close the outside door first, then the accordion door.
  4. Press your floor button.

Getting out:

  1. When the elevator comes to a complete stop, the floor button light turns yellow — the inside door is now ready to open.
  2. Open the inside (accordion) door, then the outside door, and step out.
  3. Close the inside door, then the outside door behind you. The elevator will not operate — and can't be called from any other floor — until both doors are fully closed.

A few rules: Children must be accompanied by an adult. Never force a door — if a door won't open, the elevator likely isn't fully stopped at your floor. If the elevator doesn't respond, the fix is almost always a door left ajar — check that both doors are fully closed on every level. Any questions at all, text or call us at (850) 491-4176 and we'll walk you through it.

Around the House

Kitchen. A cook's kitchen with an electric range and full-size oven, dishwasher, and full-size refrigerator with ice and water. You'll find full cookware and bakeware, dinnerware and glassware for 12, a drip coffee maker, Keurig, electric kettle, toaster, and blender.

Starter supplies. We stock a starter pack at check-in: toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher pods, laundry pods, and Keurig K-Cups. If you run out, the Scotchman convenience store is a 5-minute walk from the property.

Media room. Made for movie nights and the big game — stretch out on the L-shaped couch or grab one of the chairs. You'll also find a Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet (Arcade1Up) for some friendly competition. Smart TVs are in the great room and every bedroom; simply sign in to your own streaming accounts (and remember to sign out before you leave).

Porches & decks. Covered porches on the second and third floors are attached to the private rooms — perfect for morning coffee or an evening breeze right off your bedroom. The fourth floor has an open-air deck, and above it all sits the two-level rooftop deck (details below).

Outdoor shower. After the beach, rinse off sand at the ground-level outdoor shower before heading inside — your feet (and our floors) will thank you.

Grill. The grill lives in the fenced-in outdoor area at ground level and must stay there — please don't move it. After grilling, clean the grates and dispose of ashes responsibly: let them cool completely before discarding, and never put hot ashes in the trash bins.

Laundry. A full-size washer and dryer are in the unit, with pods to get you started. Beach towels are provided — please use those (not the white bath towels) for the beach.

Climate. Central heat and air throughout. In summer, keeping doors and windows closed helps the AC keep up with the coastal humidity.

Rooftop Deck & Hot Tub

Your private two-level rooftop deck has lounge seating, a six-person hot tub, and ocean and lake views — the best sunrise spot on the block. To get there, take the elevator or stairs to the fourth floor, then head up the outdoor staircase.

Cushions. Seating cushions are kept in the storage box inside the rooftop storage closet. Please return them after use — anything left out will blow away overnight.

Hot tub. To heat it up: turn the breaker switch ON and set your preferred temperature. It takes about 2–3 hours to reach 100°F, and heats faster with the cover ON — so plan ahead and keep it covered while it warms. Please follow the hot tub rules posted on the rooftop, shower off sand before getting in, and never let children use it unsupervised. When you're done: turn the breaker OFF and put the cover back on. No glass on the rooftop, please.

Beach Time

  • Beach access is just steps away — walk out, turn toward the ocean, and you're on the sand in under a minute.
  • Beach gear (chairs, umbrella, cooler, and more) is provided — please rinse everything and return it where you found it.
  • Lifeguard stands operate seasonally; check posted flags for surf conditions.
  • Carolina Beach's sand is famously wide at low tide — great for morning walks and shelling.

House Rules

  • No smoking or vaping anywhere inside the home or on the rooftop.
  • No parties or events. Maximum overnight occupancy is 10 guests.
  • Pets: Dogs are welcome with prior approval — please let us know ahead of your stay. Please keep pets off the furniture, crate your pet when you're not home, never leave pets unsupervised in the home or yard, and pick up after them in the yard.
  • Quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM. Sound carries at the beach, especially from the rooftop.
  • Please don't move furniture between rooms or levels.
  • For everyone's safety, a disclosed exterior security camera monitors the entry only. There are no cameras inside the home.

Trash & Recycling

  • Bins are located at ground level near the parking area.
  • Trash pickup is Monday morning — please roll the carts out to the curb on Sunday evening. If you're here Monday, returning them after pickup is much appreciated.
  • Bag all trash before placing it in the bins to keep critters out.

Safety & Emergencies

  • Emergency: call 911 or the local police department. The address to give: 702 Carolina Beach Ave S, Unit 1, Carolina Beach, NC 28428.
  • Anything at all during your stay — text or call us immediately at (850) 491-4176. We're here to make your stay as much fun as possible.
  • A fire extinguisher is in the kitchen and a first-aid kit is stocked for minor scrapes.
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are on every level.
  • The home is steel-frame construction with storm-rated windows and doors. In the unlikely event of severe weather during your stay, we'll message you directly with any guidance.
  • Nearest urgent care: Available in Carolina Beach and along Carolina Beach Rd toward Wilmington. Nearest hospital: Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington (about 25 minutes).

Groceries & Essentials

  • Quick trips: The Scotchman store is a 5-minute walk from the property for essentials.
  • On the island: Publix and Food Lion, both a few minutes away.
  • On the way in: Publix and Harris Teeter sit on Carolina Beach Rd just before Snow's Cut Bridge — a smart last stop if you're arriving with a full shopping list.
  • The Veggie Wagon, a local favorite for produce, wine, and prepared foods, is a short stroll down the street.
